Module Plan
The module consists of six lessons. The first three involve the exploration of a diverse group of notable Canadians and world figures while consuming different types of media and reflecting on personal values and strengths. The final three lessons focus on the expression of personal identity while using technology as a creative tool. The following lessons can each be covered in two to four 45-minute sessions:
Each lesson includes a plan for grades K/1, 2/3, and 3/4. Adaptations in pace can be made by breaking the activities up to be done over more days. Another adaptation that should be made according to students’ language proficiency is making input comprehensible. This can be done using modelling, visuals, gestures, body language, enunciation, demonstrations, and simpler sentence structures (Echevarría, Vogt, & Short, 2017).
